Fan theory

Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, and Victor von Doom all went to college together. (Victor flew all the way from Latveria to do so.) This university is far upstate in New York. It is referred to as "State University". So, what university has a world-class engineering program, is a state university, and is in far-upstate New York?

Thus, the Fantastic Four went to Cornell.
